robert stribley, principal consultant
Despite the royal “we” tossed around above, Technique is me. Robert Stribley. I'm a user experience design professional with over 20 years of experience. I work with brands big and small across diverse sectors to provide thoughtful and intuitive user experience design solutions. I have expertise as an information architect, interaction designer, researcher, strategist, UX writer, workshop facilitator, teacher, and manager.
Previously, I enjoyed agency life at Razorfish and Publicis Sapient in New York, NY. I worked with dozens of clients, including American Red Cross, AT&T, Delta Faucet, EMC, Nextel SA, Citibank, JP Morgan, Oppenheimer Funds, PNC, Prudential, Ford, Freightliner Vans, Genesis, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Mercedes-Benz USA, smart, Fresh Direct, Sotheby’s International Realty, Travel Channel, and Women’s Wear Daily.
I’ve spoken on UX design and conducted workshops for numerous organizations, and conferences, including Chanel, Publicis Sapient, New York University, University of Maryland, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Design Museum Week, Hackers on Planet Earth (HOPE), The Internet Freedom Festival, Medium Day, SXSW, UX Sketch Camp NYC, and the Brooklyn Product Design Meetup.
I also teach user experience design at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
Just a few of the clients I have worked with to create complex but intuitive and attractive user experiences.
case study: genesis
Technique worked with REV, a Razorfish subsidiary, to help upgrade the primary web property for the U.S. presence of Genesis, the Korean automotive manufacturer. Our UX efforts contributions included updating elements of the build-and-price feature, reimagining vehicle trim level comparison, and designing an advanced special offers experience, the likes of which does not yet exist elsewhere within the automotive industry. In 2024, the Genesis site was elevated to third place among premium auto brands ranked by JD Power after the company engaged with REV.
meaningful partnership
Technique is proud to partner with Open Technology Fund's User Experience and Discovery Lab.
The Lab seeks to improve the design of internet freedom tools by providing free UX research and design support to projects via its partners. These projects focus on advancing internet freedom and neutralizing repressive online censorship and state surveillance. Projects include circumvention, anti-censorship, and privacy-enhancing tools, and internet shutdown resilience tools, as well as others.

what is “privacy by design”?
Globally, people are increasingly concerned with the privacy of their personal information online. However, they also feel disempowered and unable to do much about it. These dynamics make it important for brands—and designers—to be aware of the need to practice “privacy by design.”
You can read my 2023 article on “Designing for Privacy in an Increasingly Public World” over on UX Collective. I’ve recently completed a book on the topic of designing for privacy for Rosenfeld Media. The official release date my book is November 11th, 2025.
I’ve also produced a brochure on this topic. It highlights 7 best practices for privacy by design. You can download it directly here. Or reach out to me, if you’re interested in a presentation to your company or organization on this topic.
Are your designs protecting—or exposing—your users?
Are your designs protecting—or exposing—your users? In Design for Privacy, you’ll uncover how shifting technologies threaten personal data and what that means for your work. This book offers practical guidelines and proven strategies to create experiences that respect and protect people’s privacy, while helping you foster a culture of “privacy by design” in your organization and practice.
